When producer
K Manju approached
Ragini Dwivedi with the idea of making an action film with her in the lead, she was thrilled at the idea, but admits that the first few scripts she got did not excite her. “Then, director
Anand P Raju came to me and I fell in love with the story of his film. At the time, though, the plan was not to call it Ragini IPS, but Manju sir and Anand sir suggested it would be nice to give the title a personal touch.
It is a big honour for me to have a film named after me,” says Ragini.
The first version of
the script, though, was slightly different, says the
actress, adding that Anand made
subtle changes after the gruesome Delhi gangrape (Nirbhaya incident). “We wanted to add a message that
women need to learn to take care of themselves when confronted with a problematic situation. The film looks at this from the point of view of a woman, without getting preachy. We have shown just how women have to take care of themselves. When you are in a potentially dangerous situation what matters is how you deal with it and come out of it. That is what Ragini IPS is about,” Ragini signs off.
