CSR awards for Hira Group unit, GCEL

RAIPUR: Think Media Inc bestowed an award for sustainable growth under the innovative efforts category on Godawari Power and Ispat Ltd, Raipur, a Hira Group company while GMR Chhattisgarh Energy Limited (GCEL) bagged ‘best CSR practice award’ at a function in Delhi.
Godawari power was picked for the honour from among 200 corporations, NGOs and public sector undertakings from all across India for its efforts in founding Milap, a platform for promoting cricket in surrounding gram panchayats of Raipur as also for spotting promising batsmen and bowlers.
What has come for special praise is the company's job offer to the player declared ‘man of the series’ in Milap tournaments that are being organized by the company for last three years.
GCEL’s award-winning entry was titled, ‘VDC: A one-in-all package for CSR.’ According to information, VDC (Village Development Centre) is the physical facility created by GCEL at Raikheda village in Raipur District from which GMR Varalakshmi Foundation (GMRVF), the CSR arm of GMR Group, engages people in GCEL’s project with tangible inputs resulting in measurable transformative changes in community health, education, livelihoods and empowerment outcomes.
