Four 15-year-old boys drowned in Purna river in Navsari town some 30 km from here on Tuesday afternoon.

SURAT: Four 15-year-old boys drowned in Purna river in Navsari town some 30 km from here on Tuesday afternoon. Three bodies were fished out by fire brigade and rescue workers from the river while the search was on to find the fourth.
There were five boys in the group, who had appeared for their class X examinations. They were in a vacation mood after their examinations ended on Monday.
Jayesh Sorathiya, Mehul Gadara, Diveyesh Adroja, Sanket Waghela and Divyesh Dalsania had left for the river at 2pm from their residences located on Shantadevi road in Navsari town for a swim.
Except for Divyesh Dalsania, the other four entered the waters of the river. None of the boys knew how to swim and got swept away by the river currents.
Divyesh Dalsania informed one of his relatives on Shantadevi road from his cell phone when he saw his four friends drowning.
Navsari fire officer Ghanshyam Patel rushed to Purna river bank with his team. "The water here is about 15 to 20 feet deep. We have recovered the bodies of Jayesh , Mehul and Diveyesh Adroja and our searching for the fourth."
Navsari town police inspector PA Nikam said, "The fast currents of the river took the boys away."
The teenagers were students of Vidya Bharti School located on Shantadevi Road in Navsari.
