Home minister asked to take action against ACP
THANE: A delegation of Mumbra politicians and locals called on home minister R R Patil in Mantralaya on Tuesday to press for disciplinary action against assistant commissioner of police Amit Kale for conducting a late night combing operation in Mumbra.
Nationalist Congress Party functionaries Sayed Ali Ashraf and Ashraf Pathan led a small group of Mumbra residents who submitted a memorandum to Patil demanding immediate action against the police officer.

The party office-bearers were upset that the state home department has failed to act on their complaint.
"As many as 300-armed personnel surrounded the buildings and forced themselves inside homes. The way ACP Kale went about the raid was very humiliating," said Ashraf, who is member of the state minorities commission.
The rank and file of the police here is upset that the top police administration is sitting coy when MLA Jitendra Awhad had publicly hurled invectives at the police officer and accused him of being a stooge of the rival Shiv Sena.
Kale has been asked to proceed on long leave.
