TISS-NET 2014: Selection process commences

Tata Institute of Social Sciences - National Entrance Test (TISS-NET), a computer based national examination was conducted on December 22 at 35 centres located at various parts across the nation. The entrance is held for admissions to post-graduate degree programmes like MA, MSc, MHA, and MPH offered at Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad campuses.

The entrance test was held for a duration of one hour and forty minutes consisting of questions related to General Knowledge; Analytical Ability, Logical Reasoning; and English Proficiency.

The result for the same was announced on February 1.

The TISS-NET 2014 Pre-Interview Test/ Personal Interview (PIT/ PI) for all Hyderabad campus programmes began yesterday i.e. March 24. The process for the same will continue till March 29.

Selection process for admissions:

The selection of candidates will take place in two stages and will consist of three components of assessment.

Marks allotted to different components of assessment:

• National Common Written Test: 100 marks
• Pre-Interview Test/ Group discussion: 50 marks
• Personal Interview: 75 marks
• Total: 225 marks

The weightage will be given as: CET - 50 per cent; PIT/ GD - 20 per cent; PI - 30 per cent. After the final assessment, the merit list will be formed accordingly.

Important dates:

• Pre-Interview Test and Personal Interview at Hyderabad: March 24 to March 29

• Pre-Interview Test and Personal Interview at Guwahati: March 31 to April 3

• Announcement of short listed candidates for all the programmes: April 26

• Verification of documents and payments of fees: April 28 to May 10

• Announcement of first wait list: May 14

• Document verification and fee payment: May 15 to May 24

• Commencement of the academic session 2014-2016: May 15.
