Japanese contractors roar ahead in Singapore

TOKYO -- Shimizu, Taisei and other big Japanese builders have gained ground in the lucrative Singaporean construction market, landing a spate of contracts for office buildings, subways and other big projects.

     Despite being a tiny city-state, Singapore is one of Southeast Asia's largest construction markets.
