MSSC to add 200 women personnel for monorail, Metro security

Earlier this month, the MSSC invited applications from women candidates for employment on a contractual basis.

The Maharashtra State Security Corporation (MSSC) will add 200 women personnel to its force, to be provided to the MMRDA’s newly launched monorail project. MSSC officials said the MMRDA asked for a large number of women personnel to provide security for its monorail and metrorail projects.

The MSSC was formed in 2010 to act as the state’s equivalent of the Central Industrial Security Force and provide security to financial and infrastructure establishments in the city. Earlier this month, the MSSC invited applications from women candidates for employment on a contractual basis.

“At present, we have a total of 1,000 personnel in the MSSC and less than 200 of these are women. After the MMRDA asked for more women personnel, we have begun the recruitment process,” said K P Raghuvanshi, director general and managing director, MSSC.

Officials said as a large number of commuters, including women, would have to be searched at monorail and Metro stations, women personnel would be a prime requirement.

“Applications are being screened. The process will take around a month-and-a-half. The selected guards will be trained and deployed,” Raghuvanshi said.

Festive offer

Potential candidates are required to have completed at least Higher Secondary education and will be subjected to physical ability tests, written exams and background checks. The selection process will be followed by a six-week training programme, which will include first-aid, weapons training and crisis management. The employment will be on a 11-month contract, which will be renewable, said officials.
