Li Na given tough workout by American youngster Madison Keys.

Li Na overcame three set points on Sunday to rally past American Madison Keys 7-6 (3), 6-3 and reach the fourth round at the Sony Open in Miami.

The world No 2 received a bye in the opening and a walkover in round two and showed some signs of rust during her hard-fought win over the American teenager.

With two matches under her belt already, Keys looked like the sharper of the two in the first set - after falling behind an early break she stormed back with four straight games to lead 5-3, even holding three set points in that game.

Keys however could not convert any of her three set points, Li wiggling free with a break and forcing the set to a tie-break which she easily won 7-3.

The American again had Li under pressure in the second, grabbing the early break to go up 2-0, but could not sustain the pressure as Li, having now hit her stride, stormed through the next five games on her way to victory.

Next up for Li is No.15 seed Carla Suarez Navarro, who cruised past No.24 seed Kaia Kanepi, 6-2 6-1.
