BHUBANESWAR: Senior Congress leader Suparno Satpathy quit the grand old party and joined Aama Odisha Party led by Soumya Ranjan Patnaik on Saturday.
Sources said Satpathy, grandson of former chief minister Nandini Satpathy, might be fielded as Lok Sabha candidate from Dhenkanal constituency. In his letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi, Satpathy said the Congress is being run by a 'cartel'.
In an obvious reference to Union minister Srikant Jena and PCC president Jayadev Jena , Satpathy said, "The Odisha Congress is being made to race towards destruction and all this, for the vested interest of a handful of people.
The cartel works in Odisha against the interest of the party."
He said Congress tickets for the forthcoming elections were being distributed to 'criminal elements' for money.
