Statement of SP MLA recorded

KANPUR: Additional General of Police GL Meena on Friday recorded the statements of SP MLA Irfan Solanki and eight others involved in February 28 incident that resulted in lathicharge on GSVM students.
Solanki denied any role in the incident and claimed that he stopped GSVM students from fighting with an old man. He also handed over a CD and some photographs to support his statement.His PRO's statement too was recorded. Abdul Qadir, the old man who was allegedly mistreated by students too recorded his statements.
General secretary of AMU Old Boys' Association Mohd Rashid Khan told ADG that as students resorted to brick-batting, the policemen cane charged them. In the evening, the ADG visited GSVM College to record statement of college principal. He also spoke to the medical store owners opposite the LLR Hospital. Statements of former Kanpur SSP Yashashvi Yadav and other policemen would be recorded on Saturday. The ADG said "The college authorities told me that students have gone to their native place for Holi and therefore need two weeks time to get their statements recorded."
