BJP, Cong & CPM working in tandem in state: Mamata

Mamata said the BJP is dividing the Hindu and Muslim voters to create communal strife in the country.

BJP is trying to split the Hindu-Muslim votes in West Bengal and is helping CPM make inroads in the upcoming elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said at a rally in Krishnanagar Friday. Accusing the CPM-BJP-Congress trio of operating in tandem in the state, Mamata said that in some seats, the BJP is asking the CPM to split votes, while in others the Congress is working in tandem with the CPM.

Mamata said the BJP is dividing  the Hindu and Muslim voters to create communal strife in the country and said the saffron party was visible only during election campaigns.

She also accused Gujarat of presenting a wrong picture of the state in terms of development and progress. Gujarat has traditionally been a state of industries. “But look at its  infant mortality rate,” she said.

“The all-India average of infant mortality is 46 per cent, and in Gujarat it is 42 per cent , while in West Bengal it is only 31 per cent. Gujarat suffers from Hindu-Muslim riots, while West Bengal does not.”  She said Telangana was created jointly by the Congress and the BJP and supported by the CPM.

“The BJP will also look to split Bengal…but the Trinamool Congress will not allow that to happen. She urged people not to give a single vote to the Congress as they had put the common masses under strain due to their failure to curb
inflation.

Festive offer

The CM added that the people in Bengal should vote for the Trinamool Congress judging by its performance over the last three years. There are a plethora of development programmes that have been initiated and more needs to be done.
