DMG INFORMATION

Genscape, dmg information's leading global provider of energy information, reports a slowing of flows of oil on the Mid-Valley pipeline belonging to Sunoco, to approximately 163,000 barrels per day from a figure of 229,000 bpd. Levels dropped after the pipe suffered a leak of between 7,000 and 10,000 gallons of crude oil into the Oak Glen Nature Preserve, according to the estimates of the local environmental protection agency. Genscape notes that maximum flow on the line is 280,000 bpd.

Genscape analyst Chris DaCosta says renewables have been "wreaking havoc on prices for the past two weeks." His comments come as spot electricity prices decline in California due to solar and wind generation forecast changes, with prices expected to reach their lowest daily average figure since June 2012. DaCosta says prices have been consistently low in the middle of the day when generation from wind and solar has been highest.

The US standard for Phase I environmental site assessments was revised in late 2013, followed by the endorsement of the country's highest environmental agency, the US EPA. The standard was controversial because the agency did not revoke its endorsement of the previous standard for the purposes of CERCLA liability protection. The agency has been closely watching the industry's transition over to E 1527-13 and in late 2013, EDR Insight delivered the first-ever stats on whether environmental due diligence consultants had adopted the new protocol. Just a few weeks after EPA recognised E 1527-13, 61% of consultants had adopted the new standard for all of its Phase I ESAs, indicating that the transition was smooth.

Zoopla's website provides lists of properties in need of work, with statistics available on the local area from within the page of each individual property of interest. Zoopla reports stamp duty has removed £260m from the value of homes in the UK since April 2012, a result of increase in stamp duty from 1% to 3% at the threshold figure of £250,000. Zoopla's figures are published as the business joins with third parties including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Institute of Directors, as well as some MPs, to call for a replacement system that is graduated in a manner similar to that applied to income tax.

Zoopla calculates the average price of a home in Newbury to be £342,000. The town offers high quality living and modest house prices.

Zoopla reports that the average renter in London is likely to be more than £82,400 better off after seven years than someone who purchases an equivalent property with a deposit of 10%. The company also says it typically takes 18 years for the home buyer to be better off than the renter.
