State clears Rs22cr for 4 tourist spots in Gondia
GONDIA: In a major boost to tourism in Gondia, the state government has sanctioned around Rs22 crore for developing four tourist spots in the district.
MP from Bhandara-Gondia parliamentary constituency and Union heavy industries minister Praful Patel had worked hard to ensure the district gets the funds.
The four tourists spots are Navegaon National Park, Pratap Shiv Temple in Satpuda mountain range in Morgaon Arjuni tehsil, Nagzira reserved forest and Nagra's Shiv temple on the outskirts of Gondia.
This could go a long way in making Gondia a tourists hot spot.
There are another 10 spots in Gondia district that can be major tourists attractions. Hajra falls and Kachargadh caves in Salekasa tehsil, ancient temple of great Sanskrit poet Bhavabahuti on Padampur hills of Amgaon tehsil and the mosque of Khawaja Usman Gani Haroon near Pratapgarh temple, that is an ideal example of communal harmony of the era, can also be developed in line with the above four.
There was also a proposal to develop these centres and start a special bus to the four tourist spots every Sunday. But, due to paucity of funds, lack of interest and Naxal menace in the last few years, the plan could not be materialized.
These amounts shall be used for the development including building approach roads, preservation of natural surroundings around them, making facilities for tourists to make their stay comfortable.
Funds allotment
Nagra Rs1,62,24,000
Nagzira reserved forest Rs7,32,89,000
Navegaon National Park Rs8,44,21,000
Pratapgarh temple Rs4,53,81,000
