Michael Essien was sacrificed on Sunday afternoon in the game between AC Milan and Parma. The Ghanaian who was named in the starting line-up for AC Milan was substituted after just eight minutes into the game due to the sending off of Christian Abbiate.

The red card for the goalkeeper which resulted in a penalty was converted by Antonio Cassano as Parma took the lead away from home. Parma maintained their one-goal advantage as they went into the first half interval with the score line 0-1.

Goal scorer Antonio Cassano got his second on the day six minutes into the second half before Adil Rami pulled one back for Milan. Mario Balotelli also scored from the penalty spot to put Milan level on 2-2.

Amauri scored Parma's third just two minutes after Milan's equalizer before Jonathan Biabiany added in the dying seconds of the game to give Parma a 4-2 victory over AC Milan.
