VADODARA: A city-based art gallery will bring the persona of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel alive with artworks of artists, who hail from across the country. A part of the proceeds from the exhibition will also be used to donate steel for the Statue of Unity.
The exhibition is rare as few exhibitions depicting Patel have been held in the past. It will have works of around 40 artists and paintings.
Installations as well as sculptures will be a part of the collection on display.
"I had heard of exhibitions on Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore and other leaders, but not about Sardar Patel. This despite the fact that he was such a strong personality and played a crucial role in making India the way we see it today," said Hitesh Rana from Sarjan Art Gallery that has organized the show.
The works include those by senior artists like Mahendra Pandya, Naina Dalal, Ganesh Gohain, Shiv Verma, Kamal Rana and others. Budding artists, who are being trained at the Hobby Centre to which the gallery is associated, have also contributed works.
Rana said a part of the proceeds of the gallery will be used to buy iron for the Statue of Unity coming up at Kevadia Colony. The week-long exhibition will be inaugurated on Thursday.
