Foundation stone laid for new wing of college in Uttarakhand

Located in the upper region of the valley, Triyuginarayan had lost 12 villagers in the disaster that hit on June 16 and 17 June last year. Triyuginarayan villagers suffered a big loss as its main source of income is from the Kedarnath Yatra.

Speaking at the event, Swadesh Talwar, head of Express Archives and Corporate Social Responsibility, said the new wing will be ready by October if there is no delay in the release of the government’s share in the project. The building is being designed by Chandigarh-based architectural organisation “Saakaar Foundation”. Chief guest Swami Das, who runs an ashram here, said he will help complete the construction.

The proposed building will be a four-storey structure with 12 classrooms and three science laboratories. The state will give Rs 1.2 crore of the estimated Rs 3.2 crore cost, while the rest will be provided by the fund. The fund will bring technical resources required for the initiative. CM Harish Rawat said: “I express my best wishes. The Indian Express group is known for is pro-people approach. My government will provide all the help to construct the building,” he said.

The Indian Express group has taken several such initiatives, including construction of 12-room Express Building block at Navkumar High School in Lagma, Sonbarsa in Bihar’s Saharsa district and the 14-classrooms Express Block at a government school at Khera village in Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh.
