Absconding cop files for anticipatory bail
VADODARA: Gorwa police sub-inspector Kirit Patel, an accused in an abetment of suicide case, filed for anticipatory bail in district sessions court on Tuesday.
Patel has been on the run for a fortnight after he was named as accused for abetting the suicide of a businessman Rajendrasinh Rathod. Rathod had committed suicide by hanging at his house on February 12.
The court reserved the order for Thursday.

Rathod had left a suicide note behind blaming several people, including Patel for the extreme step. Rathod's son had taken money from some people including one Sajid Chauhan but had failed to return it. Chauhan and others were accused of threatening Rathod regularly and pressurizing him to return the money.
Police said that even Patel had asked Rathod to return the money and return to his hometown.
Rathod was very disturbed by the constant harassment over last few months. The crime branch had been trying to locate Patel who went missing immediately after the police complaint was filed against him.
"We tried to trace him through his mobile phone but it was switched off. We also contacted his family members to know about his whereabouts but couldn't find him. The court will give order on the bail application on Thursday," said Pradeepsinh Jadeja, DCB police inspector.
The cops are confident that Patel won't be granted bail.
