Days after quitting the Congress, former MP from Domariyaganj Jagdambika Pal on Wednesday attacked Salman Khurshid for alleged financial embezzlement at the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust, an NGO managed by the Union External Affairs Minister and his wife Louise, and demanded that the Uttar Pradesh government and the Centre take action against him.

After Pal left the party alleging that there was no respect for seniors under the new leadership, Khurshid had reportedly called him “greedy.”

“He said that I left the party because I am greedy. There had never been any such charge on me. During my recent visit to Siddharthanagar district, I found that he is the one who cheated helpless, weak and physically challenged people,” Pal said.

The former Congress MP alleged, “In Siddharthanagar, which is part of my constituency, Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust had claimed to have distributed equipment to physically challenged at a camp on January 25, but there is no record of such camp.”

“We tried to locate 24 people who were given equipment by the Trust as per its records, but found that the addresses were wrong. This is reality of the Union Minister who represents significant External Affairs Ministry, and no one takes action against him.”

Festive offer

He demanded that the Union Social Welfare Ministry and the Uttar Pradesh Government act on these alleged “anomalies”, otherwise, he would move court.  “The fund of about Rs 71 lakh was given through the UP government, thus I would request the state government to take action, otherwise I would think that it has also connived with the minister.”

On speculations of joining the BJP or any other party, he said, “I have just come to Lucknow. I would certainly contest from Domariyaganj, but from which party I would make it clear in a few days.”
