One held for molesting Russian tourist

MARGAO: Colva police on Wednesday arrested 24-year old Ivon Pereira, a native of Belgaum, Karnataka, on charges of molesting a 33-year old Russian woman in her hotel room at Colva.
Police sources said that the accused is working in the housekeeping department of the Colva-based hotel in which the woman was staying for the last 4-5 days.
The woman, in her complaint, said that on Tuesday she requested that water be sent to her room.
Pereira, who was carrying out the order, opened the woman's room and on finding her in a state of undress, molested her. The woman lodged a complaint with the Colva police on Wednesday, following which, the accused was arrested.
He was booked under Section 354 of the IPC (assault or criminal force on a woman with intent to outrage her modesty). He was remanded to three days police custody.
