Sheikh Hamdan’s one-of-a-kind mini G63 packs a heckuva punch

When you’re the son of the Ruler of Dubai, your G-Class is not the same as everyone else’s G-Class.
In this video, HRH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council displays his newest acquisition: a short wheelbase G-Class hardtop, packing a full G63 AMG powertrain. For those keeping score, that’s a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 pumping out in excess of 550bhp (we’re sure his is a little bit quicker!) and 560 lb ft of torque.
The largest engine on a SWB G-Class is a 500-series naturally-aspirated 5.5-litre V8: we can only assume that this particular car is a one-off special executed by Mercedes for His Royal Highness. With that much power and torque in a compact body, this must surely be the new King of the Desert – and yes, that includes you, G63 6×6 AMG.

This car is based on a Suzuki Samurai and it is built and owned by Al Ajmani Garage. The same garage built a 3 door Toyota Land Cruiser (100 series) 8 years ago that its actual chassis was shortened. Furthermore, the garage also built a 3 door LX570 based on Prado (120 series).
