Better facilities mooted for Chamarajapuram railway station

MYSORE: Rajkumar Lal, divisional railway Manager (Mysore) of South Western Railway (SWR), directed the railway officers to improve facilities at Chamarajapuram station near Mysore court on Tuesday.
After inspecting the facility along with senior divisional commercial manager Anil Kumar, the DRM felt the need of improving drinking water facility and providing ramps so that physically challenged passengers can use the platform without hassles.
There has been no continuous supply of water at the platform, and the restrooms too lack water, inconveniencing the passengers.
Rajkumar also directed the officers to clearly mark the boundary of the railway property near the station to prevent any encroachment of railway land. He also asked them to put up a fence.
Ticket checking
Lal said that the ticket-checking drive will be intensified to check ticketless travellers. Additional staff will be deputed to identify passengers travelling without valid ticket.
Public should travel with proper authority so that railways could provide better service to its customers. The DRM instructed the commercial department to step up drives to curb ticketless traveling.
On the occasion, a few passengers petitioned the DRM to provide stoppage of Chamarajanagar-Tirupati Fast Passenger at Chamarajapuram, and to introduce a direct train to Bangalore from Chamarajanagar. Responding to their queries, Lal said that a train between Chamarajanagar and Bangalore would be run soon.
Staff awarded for good service:
The Mysore division of SWR recently announced Persons of the Month awards to its employees for their performance during February.
According to a release, the following staff received the awards from DRM Rajkumar Lal on Tuesday: senior section engineer Sree Kumar, junior engineer Mohammad Yaseen Ali, office superintendent Azam Peer, chief ticket inspector Biji Baby, senior section engineer Malakondaiah, loco-pilot A J Samuel, assistant loco-pilot Nepali Kumar, goods guard Basha Sab, loco-pilot Shanker, assistant loco pilot Pratyush Kumar, and assistant loco-pilot Balla Rajesh.
