FIR filed against Kannur MLA based on rape charges by Saritha S Nair
Police registered an FIR against Kannur MLA AP Abudullakutty after solar scam accused Saritha S Nair said he raped her prior to her arrest.
Police registered an FIR against Kannur MLA AP Abudullakutty on rape charges based on the complaint filed by solar scam accused Saritha S Nair on Monday. In her complaint Saritha Nair alleged that she was raped by Kannur MP at Mascot hotel in Thiruvanthapuram prior to her arrest in the solar scam. Cantonment women's police in Thiruvanthapuram said that no date or time of the incident is mentioned in her complaint.
Meanwhile Congress MLA Abdullakkutty denied the charges and said the complaint was politically motivated. After the police registered an FIR, Abdullakutty met Chief Minister Omman Chandy and KPCC chief VM Sudheeran to decide on the future course of action. "I will fight the case legally after consulting experts. None of the leaders have asked me to resign and face the the inquiry," Abdullakutty told India Today.
Saritha started making allegations against political leaders in both CPI-M and Congress ever since she came out of the prison on bail. On February 24, 2014 she alleged that CPI-M MLA from Kottarakkara Aisha Potty helped her partner Biju Radhakrishanan in Reshmi murder case. On March 3, 2014 she made allegations against AP Abdullakutty before the media when she came to meet her advocate in Kochi. She then told the media that Abdullakutty invited her to Mascot hotel in Thiruvanthapuram for a discussion, but she never went there. Her new complaint against Abdullakutty is contradictory to her earlier claim.
She also alleged that the MLA was harassing her through phone calls and through SMS. She then challenged Abdullakutty that if he denies the allegations,
she will proceed againt him legally. Abdullakutty's denial seems to have provoked Saritha Nair to register a complaint against him now.
Though Saritha raised a serious allegation against Abdullakutty, interestingly CPI-M state unit has not demanded his resignation yet.
Saritha S Nair was released on bail on February 21, 2014 after she got bail in 46 cases related to solar scam.
