Shilpi Sharma is pretty kicked about making her acting debut with director Vijay Maddhalas Green Signal. I always wanted to become an actor. I want to express myself and acting in films is a perfect medium to do it. Although Ive modelled for quite sometime, I would pick the silver screen over the ramp any day. Theres no future in modelling.
I must add that people in the South Indian film industry are very supportive and make the newcomers feel comfortable, says the fashion management graduate.
Her first tryst with acting happened on the small screen with the popular TV show,
Kahani Chandrakanta Ki. I was introduced to the director of that TV show by my friend, Dimpy Mahajan, and the director was so impressed that he offered me the role immediately. I was also in contention for the Miss India beauty pageant, but I decided to take up the TV show, says the actress, who played a princess in the show.
Shilpi admits to have landed in Tollywood by chance. It happened out of the blue. I was asked to meet
Maruthi, who was in Mumbai scouting for actresses. I was put through an audition and a look test. I play a rich girl in the movie. Its a light hearted comedy which reflects on how the youth today deal with relationships and how their expectations from life have changed, says Shilpi, who will be seen in Kannada film,
Aakramana 3D next. I have plenty of action sequences in that film and I thoroughly enjoyed shooting, despite sustaining several injuries. Ive just signed a film, which will be produced by N Lingusamy. Im eagerly looking forward to get more work here, she signs off.
