UAE team launch camel racing smartphone app [ANSAmed (Middle East)]

(ANSAmed (Middle East) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) (ANSAmed) - DUBAI, MARCH 10 - A smartphone application for the timeworn Arabian tradition of camel racing has been launched in the UAE by Apple Store and Google Play. The game, developed by a team of local designers, met with immediate approval. UAE Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saif bin Zayed al-Nahyan Sheikh called the game both attractive to the young and educational. The camel racing app is available in Arabic and English and provides entertainment as well as the chance to learn more about the history and tradition of camel racing in the desert, preserving a piece of culture destined to steadily lose popularity as Gulf nations become ever more modern. The game can be played alone or against online challengers and is also ''politically correct''. A few years ago the sport came in for criticism from human rights organizations due to the use of jockeys that were basically child-slaves (who have since been replaced by robots riding the horses), while in the game adult men are the ones to do the riding.
