With organisational voters mostly belonging to her camp, scales in Congress’s Wardha primary due on March 9 appear tilted towards Charulata Tokas, daughter of late Congress leader Prabha Rau.
If nominated, Tokas’ chances in Lok Sabha elections would be fully secure only with the whole-hearted support of MP Datta Meghe, whose son Sagar is her rival in the 9 election.
However, this seems unlikely if the displeasure expressed by Datta Meghe at the sudden shifting of the pre-determined primary venue from Yavatmal-Washim to Wardha is any indicator.
Meghe had camped at Delhi a few days ago meeting party leaders. He had also complained that many of the voters, like the 100-odd District Congress Committee members, are themselves not elected but nominated.
