Gotye makes UK list of biggest-ever songs

Gotye has come in at No 39 in Britain's Top 50 all-time bestsellers with Somebody That I Used To Know, the song that also features New Zealander Kimbra.

Somebody That I Used To Know, the song by Australia's Gotye featuring New Zealander Kimbra, is officially the 39th biggest song of all-time in Britain.

The Official Charts Company, the UK company responsible for compiling the UK chart every week, has updated its list of all-time sellers to reveal the new entry for the Aussie artist.

Three other songs with an Australian connection feature in Britain's Top 50 bestsellers.

Olivia Newton-John shares the No 5 and No 20 positions with John Travolta for the Grease songs You're The One That I Want and Summer Nights.

And at No. 42 are The Seekers with The Carnival Is Over.

Gotye, Olivia Newton-John and The Seekers are all based in Melbourne. Kimbra is from New Zealand but now lives Melbourne.

Elton John tops the British Top 50 list with Candle In The Wind and Something In the Way You Look Tonight, followed by the Band Aid's Do They Know It's Christmas?, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody. Wings comes in at No 4 with Mull Of Kintyre and Girls' School.
