One gets bail in NRHM scam

The Allahabad high court has granted bail to Pankaj Kapoor, a businessman and vice-president of an NGO, in the multi-crore National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam, the trial of which is going on at CBI Court, Ghaziabad.

ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad high court has granted bail to Pankaj Kapoor, a businessman and vice-president of an NGO, in the multi-crore National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam, the trial of which is going on at CBI Court, Ghaziabad.
It is alleged that a sum of Rs 12,50,000 was released in favour of the NGO, whose vice-president was the applicant, for the upgradation of a hospital.
The transaction ultimately became part of NRHM scam leading to the arrest of Pankaj Kapoor and after investigation, the CBI had submitted chargesheet against him also.
Passing the above order, Justice Rajesh Dayal Khare directed that the applicant shall not tamper with the prosecution evidence and also not pressurize the prosecution witnesses. Further, the court also directed that the applicant shall appear on the date fixed by the trial court.
However, the court warned that in case of default of these conditions, the order granting bail shall automatically be cancelled. The court made it clear that 50 percent of the amount of Rs 12,50,000 shall be deposited in the form of National Saving Certificate (NSC) before the CBI court, Ghaziabad.
