WASHINGTON, March 6 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of State broke ground Wednesday on a new embassy in Suriname.
The new embassy will be a multi-building complex located on an 8-acre plot in Paramaribo's Morgenstond development. The embassy location will feature a two-story chancery/office building, three access pavilions, maintenance shops, a warehouse, and recreation facilities.

It will provide a working space for more than 100 embassy employees.
The building project is designed to be eco-friendly and aims to achieve Silver Certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design's U.S. Green Building Council.
