Fiat has launched its brand new Freemont Cross model at the Geneva Motor Show 2014, an event that also saw the introduction of the Panda Cross and several special edition Fiat 500s.
Basically a rebadged Dodge Journey Crossroad, the 2014 Fiat Freemont Cross will be offered with two diesel engines. The entry-level model will be powered by a 2.0-liter MultiJet II with 140 hp, while the more expensive version will feature the same mill, but rated at 168 horsepower.
The former will be sold with a six-speed manual and front wheel drive, while the latter will arrive FWD and a manual transmission or active all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Unveiled at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show last month, the new Dodge Journey Crossover received a “rugged, capable look” via unique front and rear fascias, redesigned lower side sills, dark-tinted headlamps and taillights, exclusive 19-inch Hyper Black wheels and a new leather seat design with accent stitching.
Unlike the Fiat version, the US-market Dodge will be powered by gasoline engines only. The 2.4-liter Tigershark four-cylinder (173 hp / 166 lb-ft) will be standard, while the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 (283 hp / 260 lb-ft) will be offered as an option.
The 2014 Dodge Journey Cross will go on sale this spring, with pricing starting at $24,995, not including the $995 handling and destination fee.
