Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited detects power theft worth Rs 33 lakh

Continuing its operation against illegal power pilferages in south Gujarat, the Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) conducted mass checking drive and detected power theft to the tune of Rs 33 lakh from Mangrol, Areth, Valia and Ankleshwar on Tuesday.

SURAT: Continuing its operation against illegal power pilferages in south Gujarat, the Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) conducted mass checking drive and detected power theft to the tune of Rs 33 lakh from Mangrol, Areth, Valia and Ankleshwar on Tuesday.
Official sources said that the vigilance department of DGVCL had formed 92 squads to check illegal power drawings in the areas like Mangrol, Areth, Valia and Ankleshwar.
The squad members checked around 2009 connections and found irregularities in over 182 connections.
The villages that were checked are Vagankhod, Chanderiya, Pathaar, Jokhala, Dajipara, Koyalivav, Chikhlota, Modaliya, Navanagar, Dolatpur, Shir, Singvaan, Tun, Rajpara, Gundaliya etc.
The vigilance squads caught one Mohammed Hanif Musabanna, a resident of Chauhan Faliya of Tadkeshwar for using power load of 7.995 kW by tampering with meter body’s seal to slowdown its rotation by almost 50 per cent and was assessed for power theft of Rs 2.30 lakh. Another resident, Amarat Isabji Patel of Bodhana village was found using power load of 8 kW and was assessed for power theft worth Rs 3 lakh.
