KOCHI: A Varapuzha sex scandal accused, who is out on bail, was arrested by the shadow police on Friday for running a brothel from a rented apartment at Kadavanthra for the last two years.
Police said that Sreekumaran Nair (62) from Jagathy, Thiruvananthapuram, is an accused in Varapuzha sex scandal case in which a minor was pushed into flesh trade by her mother and sexually exploited by several persons in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts.

Police investigations revealed that Nair was running a brothel from a rented apartment at Kadavanthra for the last two years.
Two more persons, including a woman, were arrested under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act (ITPA) by the Ernakulam south police. Besides Nair, the arrested have been identified as a 30-year-old woman from Bengaluru and Sumesh (33) from Ezhupunna.
"This is not the first time that we have caught the accused woman. She was caught along with four men from an apartment at Kaloor on February 3 and booked under ITPA," said sub-inspector S Ananthalal of shadow police. He said that action would be taken against the owner of the apartment as well.
The accused will be produced before the court on Saturday. City police commissioner K G James and deputy police commissioner Nishanthini have given instructions to the police to intensify the drive against those engaged in flesh trade.
