Singer and music director (of Vishal-Shekhar duo) Vishal Dadlani brought the house down with his performance at the launch of Pepsi MTV Indies. Though Vishal is known for his high energy performance on stage, what came as a pleasant surprise to all was when he came on stage to sing the soul-stirring track Ambar by the Raghu Dixit Project, and interspersed that with a few lines from Voice, (of Pentagram, which he is frontman).
What followed was a perfect amalgamation of music and talent, in true indie style!
It was a celebration that indie lovers will remember for a long time to come. A true all-star music jam with the most exciting collaborations and a heavy dose of comedy with leading comics playing host for the evening, Aditya Swamy, EVP and Business Head, MTV India said, “MTV has fired up revolutions that have created pop culture across the globe. Today is another such epic moment when we with our artist friends and partners create the world's biggest indie stage for the rich sub cultures at play across India. This collectiv ewill transform our entertainment landscape permanently. I for #INDIES .”
Hosted by comedians Abish Matthews and Karan Thakkur, the evening’s proceedings were kickstarted by Spud in the Box and Blackstratblues. Ankur Tewari and the Ghalat Family and Tough on Tobacco, were next up, and kept the crowd grooving and moving with a brew of some of their popular songs. ViceVersa and Bombay Bassment, with their concoction of rap, bass, DnB and Middle-Eastern grooves warmed up the crowd for more.
