Markem-Imaje has launched the SmartDate X40-IP thermal transfer coder, engineered to withstand water ingress that can result from frequent wash-down cleaning routines or humid environments.
According to the coding and marking specialist, the SmartDate X40-IP has been specifically designed to meet the requirements of companies handling poultry, meat, fruit, salad and vegetables, as well as fresh sandwiches, that are subject to rigorous food hygiene and safety standards.
Made from stainless steel with sealed ports to protect all electronic parts from water damage, the design of the SmartDate X40-IP means that wash-downs can take place without removing connecting cables, minimising cleaning preparation time, while an integrated user guide makes the process quick and simple.
The SmartDate X40-IP kits are easy to install and can be retrofitted to any SmartDate X40 already in use, Markem-Imaje says.
The new unit features an intelligent printhead capable of printing high contrast codes at pack speeds of up to 600mm/sec at 300dpi, with an extended 1100m ribbon, which cuts downtime and reduces waste.
