PANAJI: Senior Citizens Association of St Cruz, in association with directorate of art and culture, will organize stage three folk plays 'Tunch Mhojo Hero', 'Kazar Kelem, Kabar Zalem', 'Old is Gold' on March 2 at Holy Cross Church compound, St Cruz at 6.30pm. The plays are a presentation by Savannah Arts and are directed by Xavier De Maina. The cast will include Menino De Maina, Priscilla, Katrina Gomes, Rosario, Pascoal De Chicalim, Savio, Com Rosy, Xavier De Maina, Riston, Azviton and Albred (apit).
The music has been composed by maestro Cruz/Ivo.
Happiness programme: The Happiness programme, of the Art of Living course designed by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, will be organized at Lingayat Hall, Margao, in the evenings between 6.30pm and 9.30pm from March 3 to 5. The course will include breathing technique 'sudharshan kriya', pranayama, meditation etc which will improve health, eliminate stress, enhance efficiency and will benefit those suffering from ailments like depression, diabetes, hypertension etc, a press note states. Workshop for experienced gardeners: Green Essentials and Miguel Braganza will organize a workshop for experienced gardeners - to learn how to make their gardens more productive in growing healthy organic food. Participants will learn from Peter and Rosie about the methods they have employed to transform their unique garden in Assagao into one of the best organic kitchen gardens in Goa over just two seasons. The focus of this workshop will be on how to build great organic soil, methods for quick-results and also long-term soil building to help create more productive kitchen gardens and maximizing growing space through stacking. The workshop will be held at Bamon Wado, between Happy Bar and Cafe Garden, on the Mapusa-Assagao-Anjuna road, between 3pm and 5.30pm on March 2. Registration fee is Rs 800 per participant. National science day celebration: Association of Friends of Astronomy (Goa) will be celebrating National Science Day on February 28 at 6.30pm at the Public Astronomical Observatory, seventh Floor, Junta House, Panaji. Chief minister Manohar Parrikar will be the chief guest. There will be a felicitation of founder of Association of Friends of Astronomy (Goa), the 91-year-old Percival Noronha.
Free eye checkup camp:
As part of Netra Deep Campaign, IMA-Goa will conduct a free eye checkup on March 2 at primary sub-health center, Baga, Velim, Ambelim. Registrations will take place from 9am to noon. Spectacles, medication and treatment will be provided free courtesy Goa medical college and Mukta Opticians.
Talk on tiatr: Goenkarachem Daiz, an organization formed to preserve Goan ethos in collaboration with Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, will organize a talk in Konkani on 'My experience in Tiatr' by tiatr stalwart Tomazinho Cardozo. This will be delivered on March 11 at 4pm at Black Box of Ravindra Bhavan in Margao. The talk is open for public and entry is free.
ESG weekend screenings: Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) will screen national award winning film 'Kanchivaram' on March 2 at 5.30pm at Maquinez Audi-I. Kanchivaram is based in the late 40s, where Vengadam is a humble silk weaver who dreams that by the time his daughter grows up and becomes a woman, he will have woven a sari for her wedding day. To do this he will need patience. Every day he steals single threads of brightly coloured silk from his workplace, smuggling them home for the project that will define his life. The screenings scheduled for February 28 and March 1 stand cancelled due to a program scheduled for training for the election process by the collectorate.
Seminar at GCCI: Gis organizing a full day seminar on 'strategic wage negotiations for better industrial relations' on February 28 at GCCI, Panaji. It will be conducted by Girish P Jakhotiya, chief consultant, Jakhotiya and Associates, management consultants, Mumbai, and ex-professor at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, University of Mumbai. Ponda Carnival prog:Ponda Carnival committee will host various programmes under the chairpersonship of Radhika Nayak. The programmes will include a tiatr by Agostinho on March 1 and one by Luis Bachan on March 4. A Musical show will be held on March 3. African acrobats will also perform.
Science Fiesta 2014: Goa Science Centre and Planetarium, Miramar, is organizing 'Science Fiesta 2014' will end on February 28.
Elocution competition: As part of its golden jubilee celebrations, Our Lady of Divar High School, Divar, is organizing an all-Goa inter-school elocution competition on March 6, at the school hall, from 9am onwards. The competition is open for students from Class VIII and IX. The topics are as follows: 'Saving forests - a need of the hour', 'Books are friends for life' and 'The importance of physical exercise in today's world'. First three winners will be awarded cash prize of 3,000, 2,000 and 1,000, respectively. Entries should be confirmed by February 28. Feast at Swiss Chapel: The traditional feast of the Holy Crucifix at Swiss Chapel, at Angod, Mapusa will be celebrated on March 2. The feast mass will be conducted at 9am. The main celebrant for the feast mass will be Fr Jerome D'Silva. The nine-day novena began on February 21. The novenas start with the rosary at 5.30pm followed by mass at 6pm. As part of the entertainment programme there will be a three-act play staged by Jose/Evon on March 1 after the vespers. On the feast day (March 2), there will be a musical show arranged by Lenoy Gomendes titled "Adlem ani Novem Kantaranchi Sanz" which will start at 7pm.
