BHOPAL: District administration's delayed orders to close down schools on Wednesday in view of heavy rain put students to a great deal of inconvenience. The orders were issued by district collector Nishant Warwade on Wednesday morning, when most school buses schools had left for respective schools.
This resulted in chaos and many CBSE and MP Board schools stayed open as they did not get orders on time and because final exams for classes were ongoing.

Admitting the lapse, district education officer (DEO) C M Upadhyay said though it caused inconvenience to students, greater harm would have been done if there was no such order. "These are vagaries of the weather. The collector had issued order early morning. Thereafter we tried to inform as many schools as possible."
Among schools that were open were Carmel Convent, BHEL and Sagar Public School (SPS), Saket Nagar. PRO SPS Prakash Shrivastava told TOI, "We received orders very late when the school was in session. Also, since the final exams were on, we did not disrupt the schedule." Carmel management authorities said they did not receive order for closure.
Some schools voluntarily chose to stay closed and had declared a day before on Tuesday. Delhi Public School, St Joseph's Co-ed School and Jawahar Lal Nehru School, BHEL among others remained closed. Jawahar had already informed school bus drivers. Another school under BHEL Shiksha Mandal (BMS), Vikram Higher Secondary School also sent back school buses with students.
At Maharishi Vidya Mandir (MVM) Ratanpur, students were sent back home while
International Public School (IPS) Misrod, sent back buses while they were on the way. IPS has also rescheduled Wednesday's exam for classes VI-XI for March 5.
MP Board schools in Jehangirabad, Jinsi, Barkhedi remained open. Students and teachers in majority of the schools were absent due to rain.
Parents had a scuffle with school administration at Seven Hills School, TT Nagar, regarding closure. Parents demanded that students should be allowed to go while school was unrelenting. After some altercation, the students were allowed to leave.
