Semifinals: LB Stadium, Hyderabad
On Saturday, the LB Stadium witnessed two back-to-back matches — the first between the Bhojpuri Dabanggs and Kerela Strikers and the second between the Karnataka Bulldozers and Mumbai Heroes. The Bhojpuri team won the toss and decided to bat first. Captain Manoj Tiwari and PL Yadav opened the innings for the team. While Yadav fell for just 1 run, Manoj went on to score 18 runs.
With A Sharma, Nirahua and JP Yadav scoring 21, 26 and 24 each, the final score was 127 for 9. The Kerela Strikers went for the kill right from the start. Captain Rajeev Pillai scored 38, while B Kodiyeri (17), A Nandakumar (38), V Arun (20) took the score to 126 in 18.3 overs to book their place in the finals. The team’s dugout erupted in joy as they ran on to the field. A Nandakumar (48 not out) was awarded the Man of the Match.
The second semifinal between the Karnataka Bulldozers and Mumbai Heroes witnessed fan frenzy as people thronged to see the actors. Actors from other teams like Riteish Deshmukh and wife Genelia came wearing the Mumbai team’s jersey in support. Genelia was seen posing near the trophy, while Riteish captured her on his phone. Sachiin Joshi, Huma Qureshi, Chitrangada Singh, Mandira Bedi, Sana Khan and gang were seen cheering for the Heroes. Team Karnataka chose to bat first. Opening batsman Pradeep scored 65 runs before his wicket was taken by Shabbir Ahluwalia. Sudeep disappointed fans when he was out for a duck on the first ball. Rahul, Rajeev and D Sharma took the total to 184, a score the Heroes found difficult to chase. Though Shabbir, Varun and Samir played a major role in scoring for the team, the Heroes were all out in the 18th over, with a total of 105. Pradeep was declared the Man of the Match.
Final: LB Stadium, Hyderabad The final match between Karnataka Bulldozers and Kerala Strikers at the GOA NICOFIX CCL Season 4 turned out to be a thrilling experience. Mohanlal, Priyadarshan, Shruti Haasan, Lissy, Bhavna, Ragini Dwivedi, Parul Yadav, Priya Mani, Vimala Raman, and Suman Ranganathan cheered for their respective teams. After winning the toss, The Karnataka Bulldozers chose to bat first. Opening batsman Pradeep scored just 14 runs before Nair clinched his wicket. The proceedings got interesting when the Kerala Strikers got their next wicket in the ninth over. However, Dhruv Sharma and Rajeev turned the match in Karnataka’s favour. Rajeev went on to score a century and remained not out at 112 runs. The duo took the team’s total to 211. The Kerala Strikers began their chase well as A Santosh Kumar, who scored 78 runs, and Santosh Sleeba put up a great show with their 113 runs partnership; however, they couldn’t seal the deal. In the end, The Kerala Strikers scored 175 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. As soon as the Karnataka Bulldozers won the match, they didn’t hold back their joy and Kichcha Sudeep was the happiest of the lot. Rajeev was adjudged the Man of the Match and Dhruv Sharma won Player of the Tournament award.
