Birma Devi (70), her daughter-in-law Meera Devi (38), latter's son Rahul (17), daughters Shashi (11) and Shivani (10) died in sleep when the roof of their 'kuchcha' caved in during heavy showers. The incident came to light on Saturday morning when neighbours saw the condition of the house and bodies under the debris. They informed the police and district officials. Rescue workers reached the site and extricated the bodies from the debris.

The irate mob manhandled him, damaged his four-wheeler by throwing stones on it and snatched the keys of the vehicle from the driver. The situation was brought under control following the intervention of senior villagers. Singh announced Rs 7.5 lakh as compensation to the bereaved family.
