Veerana 2 to take off in April

It’s a part of film-maker Shyam Ramsay’s project to bring out sequels of Ramsay’s best horror films

He is introducing the vampire horror element in his upcoming film, Neighbours, which is releasing on February 28. But that’s not the only thing that Shyam Ramsay is excited about. The veteran film-maker, of Ramsay Brothers fame, is all charged up about making sequels of Ramsay horror superhits. The project will kick off with Veerana 2, a sequel of their popular film Veerana, the shooting of which will take off in April, this year.
One of the highlights of the film, that starred Hemant Birje, Sahila Chaddha, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Satish Shah, Gulshan Grover and Vijayendra Ghatge in significant roles, was the character of Jasmin, a voluptuous girl possessed by a witch. “The character of Jasmin will be there, but the story will be different in Veerana 2. We plan to take a fresh face for the role, but if we don’t find a girl, then we’ll take on an established actress for it,” informs Ramsay.
Though the film-maker believes in keeping up with the times, and has set the story of Neighbours in Mumbai city, he still swears by the Ramsay formula — a horror film that provides complete entertainment. “I believe that a film should provide complete entertainment. Which means that the films that we are making will have horror, action, glamour and songs. So you can be sure that our sequels will have all of that,” says Ramsay.
