Believe it or not, back in the 19th century, pink was considered the most appropriate colour for little boys, while blue was a favourite for girls.

But who's to decide colours are to be gender specific? We think it's a cool to wear the colour pink, irrespective of stereotypes. And if you disagree let English actor Mathew Boynton's show you a hilarious perspective.

To take a small step towards breaking the pink stereotype, we scoured our archives for this set of images of some stunning celebrities and global icons. From Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Deepika Padukone to Kerry Washington and Kate Middleton, show how to work the hue in every shade from baby to bold and make a powerful statement each time. Power dress in a sharp magenta pantsuit, go elegant in a rose sari, play with a bubblegum jumpsuit, or make eyes pop in a fuchsia lehenga. Pink is a winner, every time.
