Subramanian Swamy to Asaduddin Owaisi: 'India should break Pakistan into 4 parts, tackle Kashmir militancy with full might'

New Delhi, Sep 17: Hindutva leader Subramanian Swamy locked horns with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) supremo Asaduddin Owaisi at the ‘India Today Mind Rocks 2016’ debate. The hardline politician leader minced no words while articulating his stand on nationalism. Refuting the allegations of promoting religious nationalism, Swamy said, “If you believe in modern science, you should accept that Muslims and Hindus of India share same DNA. This means that our ancestors were Hindus.” Both the leaders debated on a range of topics ranging from gau raksha terror to uniform civil code, and the threat of ultranationalism. While debating the issue of Kashmir, Swamy did not refrain from making contentious remarks. The rabble-rouser politician opined that India should not only crush Kashmiri militancy with iron fist, but also break Pakistan into 4 parts.

“In 1971, we had softened our stand. Instead of breaking Pakistan into two parts, we should had broken it up into four,” Swamy said. “The first task which awaits us is to separate Balochistan. Then we can move towards Sindh,” he added, with huge applause from the crowd. Owaisi countered saying, “How could you heal the wounds in Kashmir by raking up Balochistan from ramparts of Red Fort?” Swamy intervened and said, “Kashmir is an integral part of India and nothing can separate it from us. The militancy needs to be crushed with an iron fist.

Swamy also lashed out at the ruling state government of Kashmir. “In the elections, we (BJP) had won Jammu, Leh and Ladakh. PDP won Kashmir. On basis of governance agenda, we formed an alliance. But in my personal opinion this government should be straightaway dismissed,” he added. (ALSO READ: Asaduddin Owaisi is anti-national: Subramanian Swamy)

Swamy also raked up the issue of Babri Masjid, saying that he had sought expert opinion from theocrats in Saudi Arabia, who agree that a mosque could be shifted from one place to another. Owaisi countered saying, “Why are you so concerned about Saudi Arabia and Iran. I live in India. We are accountable to this constitution. Court will decide on the matter.”

Amiod the course of debate, Swamy also lamented charges of anti-nationalism against Owaisi. “”I won’t call Asaduddin Owaisi a traitor. But he is surely an anti-national. He is a rashtra-vidrohi,” he asserted.

Owaisi on the other hand, reiterated that he would not raise the slogan of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ to please the far-right section of polity. “I will not say Bharat Mata ki Jai. I will not accept your slogan of religious nationalism. I find pride in raising the slogan of Jai Hind.”
