The updated iMac has been delayed for quite some time now, but rumors are getting stronger that Apple will launch the new iMac 2017 in the next Apple event in 2017. With the upgraded iMac, it is anticipated that Apple could unveil the iPad Pro 2 also.

At first, the rumors said that the new iMac 2017 would come powered by Intel's Kaby Lake processors. But Kaby Lake will not be ready until the end of the year. This is the probable reason for why the new iMacs was a no-show in two of the latest Apple events, as they are waiting for the availability of Kaby Lake.

Now, some unconfirmed reports say that Apple will also go with Intel Xeon for iMac 2017 instead of waiting for Kaby Lake.

According to Mobile & Apps, Intel Xeon is currently being used on high-end workstations and servers of the processor is said to be capable of supporting error-correcting code memory. While the Intel Xeon processor may be an impressive addition to the new iMac, but it can also result in the price rise of the device.

The year 2016 also gave rise to Virtual Reality gaming, and as such, gamers are on a constant stalk for a powerful compatible computer that can give the seamless VR experience. The iMac 2017 is already rumored to support a powerful graphics card making it readily available for Virtual Reality. It is rumored that iMac 2017 will come with AMD's Polaris 10 or Polaris 11 GPU.

There will be revamped design of the iMac 2017. With its latest offerings in the MacBook Pro and the competing Microsoft Surface Studio, the iMac should also offer an innovative design. Along with an expected slimmer AIO desktop, it is also expected that iMac 2017 will be lighter in the weight.

It is claimed that iMac 2017 will have an improved 5K retina display monitor and it will employ full flash storage.  However, the new iMac will offer support for an OLED Touch Bar, which Apple has included in its latest MacBook Pro.

Rumors are rife that the new iMacs will be making their debut in early 2017, possibly Q1 2017, while some reports suggest that it could make appearance possibly at the CES 2017.
