Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the greatest limited-overs cricketers the world has ever seen. Make no mistake about it. The man has achieved everything that there is as a captain, and his batting records, too, can match up to the best. Understandably, MSD enjoys the love of a staunch army of supporters as well. Testament to that was the immense adulation he received after relinquishing captaincy of India's limited-overs sides recently.

The only blemish, however, in Captain Cool's glorious career has been the constant speculation of him not having good terms with his senior team-mates when he was leading Team India. A lot has been spoken, and written, about how Dhoni was responsible for fast-tracking the retirements of a few legends of the sport.

Though no cricketer has ever gone on record to point a finger at Mahi, VVS Laxman did once allege that Dhoni didn't receive his calls when he was about to announce his retirement from the game.

This sentiment of Laxman was echoed by Rising Pune Supergiants owner Sanjiv Goenka, when he, rather bluntly, cited reasons for removing Dhoni as the skipper of his Indian Premier League franchise a couple of weeks ago. "It was difficult to get hold of Dhoni via phone. He wasn't available during important meetings of the franchise. Every time calls had to be filtered through his agent Arun Pandey," Goenka had said.

Now, a conversation between former India openers Sunil Gavaskar and Virender Sehwag while commentating during the first Test between India and Australia has added fuel to this 'Dhoni-doesn't-answer-calls' fire.

"I heard that Dhoni is not answering calls on his phone," questioned Sunny. "If you are a Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player, you will get an answer from him," replied Viru, alluding to the notion that Dhoni was biassed towards his CSK team-mates even as he continued to lead Team India.

Sehwag, himself, is one of the players who was allegedly hurried towards retirement by Dhoni, and the relationship between the two stalwarts has always been a rocky one in fans' eyes. Even though they put rumours to rest when Dhoni visited Sehwag's school recently, it's hard to say whether this remark by the latter was said in jest and was merely one of his famous one-liners.

Well, one thing is for certain, all this Dhoni bashing off-late is not going to go down well with Captain Cool's long legion of fans.
