Mumbaikars to soon face October heat

The southwest monsoon is expected to begin withdrawing from Maharashtra in the next couple of days and Mumbaikars will soon have to brace for rising temperature and the dreaded October heat. Meanwhile, the city has already started to experience heavy haze in certain parts.

“With monsoons gradually gearing up for withdrawal, the city is receiving dry air from the northern part of the country and this is causing mist, which due to pollutants, becomes hazy in the mornings,” said a senior official from the Regional Meteorological Department, Mumbai.

The heavy haze also reduced visibility and can be seen along the Goregaon highway, Bandra-Worli Sea Link, Central Mumbai as well as at Marine Drive. 

“Fortunately the Air Quality Index has been good but soon with winters beginning the air quality will deteriorate and there will be smog covering various parts of the city," said an IMD official.
