The lawyer Mehmood Abdi submitted a written request to Oshiwara Police on Sunday, in which he sought police protection in view of the threats.

According to Abdi's letter, the fugitive gangster called him and said he was calling from Australia. The gangster then warned that Abdi should stop fighting Lalit Modi's cases.

A number of cases of financial irregularities, money laundering and criminal cases have been filed against Lalit Modi by various investigative agencies in the country.
