A day after a Bareilly woman alleged that her husband gave her triple talaq for attending a rally attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the husband has come out denied the allegations, saying that he was constantly getting threatened by her uncle.
"I didn't give her triple talaq. She had an extramarital affair, so I divorced her. Her uncle keeps threatening me. She always wore jeans and things like that. I don't want to keep my wife with me. This has nothing with to do with Modi Ji's rally," said the man identified only as Danish.
Earlier the woman identified as Fayra claimed Danish was having an illicit relationship with his aunt and that he used the rally as a convenient excuse to get rid of her. She also said the police hadn’t paid heed to her complaint, following which she approached Farhat Naqvi, the sister of BJP leader Mukhtat Abbas Naqvi, who assured her help."My husband had an affair with his aunt and even had a son with her. He kept telling me he'll give me a divorce. When I came back from rally he said PM Modi can't do anything to harm him and gave me triple talaq. He beat up my child and me and threw us out of the house," Farya told ANIFayra and Danish got married in April 2016.
