If anything IPL has taught us in the last decade, it is that legends shouldn't be discarded. They have often beaten the odds to give stellar performances that has lit up the greatest domestic T20 tournament of the world.

Will this be the case with Yuvraj Singh. Out of favour from Indian team, there is no doubt that Yuvi is in the fag end of his career. He had a horrible Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, where he aggregated 208 runs off 216 deliveries at a dismal strike- rate of less than 100 (96 plus). Yuvraj's sequence of scores in Mushtaq Ali Trophy is 50 not out (40 balls), 35 not out (35 balls), 8 (16 balls), 4 (8 balls), 21 (14 balls), 29 (25 balls), 40 (34 balls), 17 (33 balls) and 4 (11 balls). The troublesome part is that he batted in the top four on most days and never looked like in control as Punjab lost out on a spot in the final primarily due to his slow batting.

But when he gets going and the ball is delivered in his hitting arc, few players can be as destructive as him. Hoping that the classy southpaw can produce the old magic, KXIP, picked Yuvraj Singh for Rs 2 crore, which was his base price. Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad have all picked up Yuvraj during  previous auctions, but finally Yuvi who belongs to Punjab will be back in his 'home' franchise. And Yuvi wasn't shy to make his happiness evident on Twitter.

Yuvi tweeted:

It's a happy message but with a dire warning for his critics. Yuvi says this year is about 'self belief and pride'. Surely the fact that he was bought in his base price hasn't escaped him and the leftie will like to prove that other franchises made a mistake by not making a beeline for him. And no words can describe Yuvi's self-belief.

A man who defeated cancer and defied pain to play for Indiia can certainly turn back the clock. Yuvi also looked excited to re-unite with Virender Sehwag. Both are great friends off the field and they would like that chemistry to reflect on field. He also reminded about his good relationship with Preity Zinta and warned about 'chatty partner' Hazel Keech. But that 'see u punjabiyon' message made it clear that this desi lad is eager to go back home. Now for seeing those mightly hits that terrorised bowlers across the world.
