India v/s Sri Lanka, 1st ODI: India collapse for 112 as MS Dhoni scores 65

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl first in the opening match of the three-match series being played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) in Dharamsala.

Sri Lanka need 113 runs to win the opening match of the three-match series being played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) in Dharamsala. India were bowled out for just 112 runs as Lankan bowlers ran through the famed batting line-up on a cold Sunday afternoon.   

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl first. India, without Virat Kohli, lost five wickets for just 16 runs-   their lowest ever in ODI history. Angelo Mathews started the collapse with Shikhar Dhawan's wicket without a run on the board. Suranga Lakmal, who has troubled the India bastmen in Kolkata test, was on fire again sending back Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik while Nuwan Pradeep accounted for Shreyas Iyer. 

MS Dhoni and Hardik Pandya became the first Indian batsmen to reach double figure. However, Pandya soon fell for 10. Bhuvneshwar Kumar became Lakmal's 4th victim. 

Kuldeep Yadav (19) provived some support to Dhoni and they added 41 runs for the 8th wicket. Dhoni completed his fifty with a Four and then brought up team's hundred with a Six. He fell as the last wicket for 65 trying to hit another big one.       

Captain Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan opened for India, while the no. 3 spot was given to ODI debutant Shreyas Iyer. Manish Pandey was also given a chance.

Hardik Pandya, who was rested ahead of the South Africa tour, also back in the squad while Washington Sundar and Punjab's medium-pacer Siddharth Kaul were not included in the playing XI.

Sri Lanka is playing the ODI under Thisara Perera, who has taken over from Upul Tharanga. Lankans have left Kusal Perera on the bench whereas Lahiru Thirimanne has been given the no. 3 spot despite coming off a poor Test series.

India playing XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Sri Lanka playing XI: Upul Tharanga, Danushka Gunathilaka, Lahiru Thirimanne, Angelo Mathews, Asela Gunaratne, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Thisara Perera (c), Sachith Pathirana, Suranga Lakmal, Akila Dananjaya, Nuwan Pradeep.
