It seems that every match MS Dhoni plays these days he manages to rewrite history books. He completed 400 one-day international dismissals (296 catches, 107 stumpings) as a wicket-keeper in the ongoing ODI series.

The former Indian captain can set 3 new records in the 6th ODI against South Africa at Centurion. 

10,000 ODI runs 

MS Dhoni needs 33 runs to complete 10000 ODI runs. Dhoni, who has scored 9,967 runs in 317 matches so far. If he manages to reach the score of 33 in the 6th ODI, Dhoni will 12th batsman and 4th Indian to reach the milestone. 

The three Indians who have got to that landmark are Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly. 

300 catches

MS Dhoni completed 400 dismissals (296 catches, 107 stumpings) as a wicket-keeper in this series earlier. Now, he can add the record of 300 catches to his stats. He needs 4 catches to get there. 

Best against SA

MS Dhoni is four dismissals away from going past former South African Mark Boucher 42 (40 catches, 2 stumpings) in India-South Africa ODIs. Dhoni has taken 29 catches and effected 10 stumpings so far against South Africa. 

Team India can also set a record of becoming the second side after Australia to win 5 or more matches in one series in South Africa.

The visitors are currently boosted with confidence with an unassailable lead of 4-1 in the six-match series.

With the first ever series win in South Africa in 25 years, India also confirmed their top spot in the ICC ODI Rankings, pushing the hosts to the second spot. A win in today's match for India could prepare a strong platform for a fine showing in the T20 International (T20I) format of the game which begins with the first match slated for Sunday at Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, India could rest a few players in the dead rubber, looking at the long overseas schedule this year.
