As many as 125 people from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have sought tickets to contest from 21 seats in the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections which are likely to take place in December.

As many as 125 people from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have sought tickets to contest from 21 seats in the upcoming Gujarat assembly elections which are likely to take place in December.
The Arvind Kejriwal-led party had earlier decided against contesting the elections however the party later decided to contest from some seats and has begun the process of selecting candidates.
AAP said on Friday that its observers for 21 seats elected in the first phase had meetings with party workers to discuss the political situation in the state and to take feedback on the ticket aspirants.
"The party's state election committee held detailed discussions about the ticket seekers and has sent its recommendations to the Political Affairs Committee (PAC), the apex body within the party. The PAC will take its decision and announce the first list of candidates in the first week of October," said Harshik Nayak, media coordinator of AAP in Gujarat.
To kick off its election campaign, AAP will hold a roadshow in Ahmedabad on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Nayak said that the party's Gujarat election in-charge, Gopal Rai, will take part in the 22-km roadshow that will start from Naroda and end at Income Tax crossroads.
