Sardar Mehtab sworn in as Governor K-P

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) senior leader Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi took oath as Governor Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in Peshawar on Tuesday, Radio Pakistan reported.

Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Mazhar Alam Miankhel administered the oath.

Abbasi had been appointed as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s new governor on April 10.

He replaces Shaukatullah Khan who, according to sources, had submitted his resignation from the post to President Mamnoon Hussian on April 8. Khan was appointed by former president Asif Ali Zardari on February 9, last year.

PML-N Central Secretary General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Major (retd) Amir, who was part of the first government peace talks committee, were also running for the post.
